I'm in August 2006 my son was severely wounded in Iraq. During his recovery in Walter Reed army Medical Center in Washington DC myself my son -- many celebrities sports stars movie stars athletes politicians. Most visits with the true. The police and a huge rehab gymnasium with sometimes more pressing present -- soldiers. In the beginning when my son was unable to leave his room senator John McCain's visited him in his room. He brought no one -- there was no press there were no cameras. John McCain pulled up chairs sat down and offered hope and comfort to a -- warrior. John McCain spoke of his faith in god and on her love for his country. He encouraged my son to continue his courageous battle to recover from his wounds and never give up believing in America. My son told John McCain. But you read his books and what an inspiration he was not only him but the all the wounded troops John McCain asked for his full name and told him he had a couple of books he thought he would really enjoy. Within a couple weeks a package arrived containing those books later that evening my son told me mom I meant a great American today. Senator John McCain is a man of honor a man of his word a man of integrity after thirteen months of -- position and rehab my son maybe remarkable recovery. With a holiday season here please remember our soldiers serving overseas and their families who wait for them at home in their wounded recovering their military hospitals around the world.
